I am 25 years old and realize yes, Salesforce is not a Tier 1 company. Congratulations to those who actually applied themselves and have landed at more prestigious locales. You are cooler and smarter than me. Well done. But believe it or not my TC: 115K (4 YOE) in south florida for my age is upper middle class. AKA I'm comfortable af. Work life balance is incredible and essentially I can chill at my current career cadence and easily reach important financial milestones. The TC figures I see on blind for 10+ YOE at top companies are attractive, but I can't help but realize that climbing the ladder isn't for me, or any young single SWE for that matter. Look. Do your LC. Rest and vest. Hop jobs. Play the market... I totally get it. Just know that the game you are playing makes sense for people with kids and a wife(or husband). I have mistakenly fallen into this trap, which isn't the end of the world, like I said I am in a great financial situation. I do however refuse to spend the next 10 years being a IC cog and not calling any product my own. Hope this was enjoyable to read and you feel motivated to start your own company.
On the opposite. I regret not being better at LC and get a decent TC.
Never too late.
I thought indeed TC wasn't bad?
Well done! What is IC?

It's pretty ironic that you think the leetcode job hunting route is for people with families. Kind of the opposite, actually. The rise of leetcode-style problems in whiteboard interviews is due to the predominantly young population in our industry
Good point about LC. I should be clear here: stable 9to5 401k lifestyle for the young, talented and driven folk with no plans of having kids.
Lol it’s the other way around in Silicon Valley. The kids in 20s are the ones doing LC all the time. They just wanna compete, do the rat race. Not bothered about quality of life in terms of relationships, travel, WLB etc..
Lmao, youngin hasn’t seen a recession yet.
Lol. You're likely right. *shrugs* What should my cash savings be at sir? I respect your opinion as someone who has clearly been through a recession. 😏
We’re absolutely Tier 1 if you count TC per hour actually worked.
C'mon man! Money (alone) doesn't make man happy. If you figured out the race isn't for you and ok with people boasting bigger TC, then just don't read all this garbage. Live your life and be happy :) We're here to talk about rat race, LC, TC, and not about happiness.
After you start a company, let us know whether it’s easier or more difficult than climbing the ladder...
Is that what life is about, the easy route? Not sure what you're getting at bud.
