Does Google or Amazon = large tech companies really hire coding boot camp graduates?
Yes. I know of three real life data points. But, all are female. I'm not mentioning this to be derogatory. They do a good job. But with a boot camp resume, you're more likely to get a interview invite if you're female.
Does not seem true to me. I know several males including myself working at Google from a boot camp
What boot camp did you go to if you don't mind me asking?
what was your level of exposure to coding pre boot camp? I'm currently in a boot camp but I came into it knowing only what the pre work taught. I wonder how realistic it really is to get a great job without having some coding background prior to the boot camp. how long did it take you to get hired?
what's a good boot camp to go to?
I went to Hack Reactor and would recommend it

Yes, I work at a boot camp and have had grads go to both those companies. Personally seen more go to Amazon than Google, but that might just be my recollection. Loads to Amazon.
Yes. Coding boot camp and then work at Google now. I worked for a year in between as an engineer elsewhere

I did very little besides the pre work. I got a job after a couple months (not Google). To prep for Google, I spent several months studying algorithms, doing lots of interview practice questions. It's possible for sure but takes a lot of work and luck and a referral doesn't hurt :)
what about for already established devs.... is this just for college grads / people trying to break into the field? (I'm not in a FANG company but would like to get into one or similar. )
why do women have more advantage than men?
I'm sure some bright young 'un is going to give us all the hard won truth that women are all simply given far too many privileges. We really should level out the playing field and reduce the already low amounts of women in the field of computer science as a whole. they can't actually have any talent at coding there must be some advantage here 🤔
I mean it's just a fact though.
Yes. Microsoft has a reskilling program, like a boot camp, for returning veterans. Msft hires 25% of the graduates. Most boot camps have a 95% placement rate. It works.
