While I find this pretty shitty, tbh when has the US justice system done a good job with these types of things.
What now? Didn't the article say that they made the decision partially because of a "precedent" where companies aren't charged if they admit? What a loophole, as long as you admit when caught you're fine. I'd love to see individual criminal cases go that way.
