Hi everyone, I've been at GE for ~2 years and I feel like I've wasted time not looking for better growth opportunities. I'm at the stage in my career where I'm willing to work anywhere and for any company as long as the company has interesting problems to tackle and a good culture for growth and development. Ideally I'd like to give my 100% to a company and have that effort recognized. I'd really appreciate some recommendations on some companies to keep a look out for. I'll be looking to apply in the next month. Thanks in advance! TC: 80k #techindustry#softwareengineer
This is gonna sound crazy, but I actually think coming from GE youโd probably thrive at a company like Citi or Amex or something like that. The big financial services companies for all their faults have very strong mentorship cultures, particularly if youโre based in a hub like NYC or SF. I havenโt loved my experience at these types of companies due to the nature of the work I was engaged in (Iโm no longer with Mastercard,) but more often than not my experience and the experience of my peers has been that their managers or other people who theyโve sought out as mentors have genuinely had their best interests at heart. Regardless of what I worked on though, I always felt like I received praise and recognition for my work which is important when youโre starting out and trying to grow. I still have several mentors from previous roles at a large financial institution that I text on a fairly regular basis and that have recommended me for positions at other companies.
Go to FAANGMULATS. I can speak to 3 in the list and all had solid mentorship programs when I was a newbie. YMMV depending on team though.
What is the T in this?
