I recently had an interview with uber and they didn’t ask me any algorithms. It was for a senior role however. I have an interview with apple soon for a mid senior level, can I expect algorithms to be solved ? I know it’s impossible to predict what can be asked in interviews but are companies moving away from the algorithms trend ? What should I focus on ? Position is 6+ years. TC: 🥜 (not worth mentioning or boasting) YOE: 8 years
ALL tc lives matter
You should add your TC, because even 🥜 is a data point. Also, what’s your YoE?
Op, what kind of question did Uber ask then?
Generic coding question on task executions.
OP, sharing your TC is not about boasting but letting others know what they might be jumping into with a perspective employer. Its about democratizing TC without revealing identities.
Why not ask the recruiter / HM what can be expected of the interview?
I hope not. I actually kind of like algorithms interviews. They are at least predictable and while the surface area of possible questions/patterns does take quite a bit of upfront preparation, the scope is well defined. Whereas freestyle technical questions can be literally anything and are a total crap shoot
LC style interviews are dying slowly. Especially for senior candidates. They won’t be missed.
Which companies don’t do LC? Most companies i interviewed last time including my current did LC types
Depends on the seniority. What level did you interview for? Even Meta doesn’t ask LC for L7+ candidates.
