I am getting a offer from Onica soon. Should I take it? They are being acquired by rackspace. What usually happens to people employed at a company that gets acquired? Are they let go? **I am researching but wanted to get a answer from personal experience Thanks.
It will be a long time till rax integrates onica. Rax is trying to run lean as they want to ipo. I'll be honest, the place sucks. They can't hire people because the pay is low and we have yearly layoffs and a revolving mgmt chain. If it is for an aws consulting gig, you'll be fine, but if it is a redundant position like hr, be careful
It depends on why they are buying. If it is for their revenues then likely the company will remain intact. If there is no revenue then they want the technology.
Firstly, Onica is just an APN, aka customer service IT firm for AWS. Getting an offer from them is like going to eat breakfast at IHOP in the morning... it’s not that impressive. Lord knows why Rackspace wants them. Tbh I hope you’re let go
No one should work at rackspace anymore. Their management will eat the entire company and fire everyone to save a penny.
If it is going to be a skill building opportunity, roll with it. Working front line support for a technology stack is an excellent way to do this. Just take your time there year by year. The place is too unpredictable to make plans past that. Have an exit plan in place.
