Do you guys know any good known companies which don’t follow fixed #URA goal/policy? And has good work culture? I guess different companies might have their own jargons for URA. It means un regretted attrition, where an org has to layoff fixed number/percentage of people. The number is decided year ahead. The managers in org then have to meet this target. Managers then have to show targeted number of employees as poor performers (even if they are not) and fire them.
All FANG companies have some process, it's not always a fixed target.
Stop spreading lies. G does not fire unless you were absolutely terrible. FB also does not like to fire anyone. But unfortunately they have lowered their hiring bar while keep the perf bar high. So they need to clean up the ones that are terrible.
Amazon and Facebook don't fire people unless they are terrible as well. We fire 5% and that's about the error rate in our hiring process (which is less rigorous than yours). Google doesn't have a company wide target but orgs in Google are expected to hit their "historical norm" for terminations. It's not mandatory but senior managers have to explain themselves if they don't, so they usually do.
Amazon has URA quota. Although they are not able to hire good engineers because of bad reputation in the market but still holding on to that URA quota. Such a shithole. I regret everyday

Google CFO confirms 'large-scale' layoffs (Apr 17)
Amazon is the only large scale tech company that has this old school “must fire bottom 10%” BS that Peter Drucker invented. Google, Facebook, and Microsoft don’t do this. I’m pretty sure rest of FAANG doesn’t either.
Appreciate your time for answering this. 😊
Actually Google has a target, though it's unofficial, it's enforced with the phrase "deviation from historical norms is strongly discouraged". Facebook has a strict up or out policy, you need to get promoted by a deadline or you get fired. Netflix doesn't have a quota but probably fire the most anyway. Here's reality: All of the top tech companies have high expectations and won't let you coast.
