Compass folks, what's your outlook on the company? Particularly the Seattle office. Pros/ cons?
Is Compass a real estate or a Tech company?
Both? Is what is Zillow?
So we learnt nothing from the Wework saga.
What draws you to compass, OP?
Whoops, see below for reply
They're in growth mode, have you seen Amazon for the last 2 years?
Both. But the number of engineers we have relative to support staff and agents is very small. Real estate first and tech second. Agents and Support staff do not care about adoption at ground level as much as they should in order for the tech to make a difference, but that's due to lack of C-suite direction. Tech should be placed first but it appears Robert cares more about agents than the tech and agents love that.
Compass is betting on a dying horse: real estate agent. That’s the past not future. It’s like building a company to improve type writers’ performance! That age is gone!
To play devil’s advocate, reason why majority of sales volume still go through agents is because people are not comfortable amazon styling a huge purchase like a home.
I think there’s potential but I’m not betting on it. Looking to leave after I hit my one year - I’d prefer rsus that are liquidatable
Can’t say about Seattle. But in NYC it’s pretty good.
