What would an ideal salary be for a generalist who has 3 years of experience in process improvement, Six Sigma, Scrum/Agile BA, gaps analysis, data analytics (including Big Data), information security, configuration analysis, broker software, etc.? I don’t know what I should be commanding. It’s $67k right now in the Midwest. I don’t know if that’s fair or too low. I might not be a specialist or a SME, but I am used to jumping into projects and learning the ropes pretty quickly while being able to assist with multiple types of duties that stretch across various roles. Thanks
You’re in for a big surprise outside of Midwest. Generally, no one cares about six sigma , everyone does their own bastardized version of scrum , and you’ll be hard pressed to find UX that operates the way you describe. My guess is you’ve worked in automotive or related industries?
Nope. Healthcare technology - we have a Center of Excellence department that sends Master Black Belts to projects throughout UnitedHealth Group companies.
Come over to banking or consulting. Pay for process improvement is much better
I don't know what is six sigma, scrum, gap analysos, config analysis, and I don't know if anyone use them in my company. When we talk about generalist, we are talking about someone who can build mobile apps, backend server, database management, maybe a bit more knowlesge on machine learning, computer vision, big data process, etc
Six Sigma is a set of techniques and tools for process improvement. If you’ve ever heard of Black Belts or Green Belts, they practice Six Sigma process improvement. Scrum is Agile for software development. Gap analysis is figuring out where gaps are in a process so you can compare actual performance with potential or desired performance. Config analysts build wireframes or analyze wireframes and then make front-end configs based on the wireframes. It’s a blend of systems integration and UX/UI design.
