Why every year Microsoft adjusts the level 59 compensation only, to remain competitive and not even trying to balance the higher levels with the competitors? Isn't the trend of leaving Microsoft after 3 years to join Amazon becoming more and more popular due to better compensation at Amazon and improved work life balance in recent time?
They’re not ready for the new guys to pick up the work yet. Tribal knowledge kept close until most old heads retire. Then they leave without completely divulging, taking some knowledge to the grave. Massive brain drain and then new guys can’t replace them so they contract out. Ego moves.
