Is it common in US companies to have a sh*tty attitude to contractors? In my company nobody cares about contractors at all, even basic things like no people management, not allowed to work from home or even no budget for common teambuildings?

Yeah, pretty much. Some people like being contractors because of that and they dont mind the short stint employment. Companies will pay the higher per-hour wages for contractors because they dont have to pay health insurance, benefits etc to the contractor. And as a contractor they can hire-and-fire at will, without cause, no severance etc.
