Dating for Marriage is Hard
BAL is filling the H1B extension petition on my behalf. I have manadatory travel plans to my home country in Feb 2020 (My last approval notice would still be valid at that time but my visa stamp is already expired). I wanted BAL to file under premium processing so that I would have the new approval notice before I go for next visa stamp. What conversation should I have with my manager for Amazon to pay for the premium processing, given there is no business necessity?
I just told my manager I need it then he approved
What business justification did he provide? Apparently, the manager needs to cut a ticket with business justification for approval.
Tell him/her that you are genuinely worried about the long processing times without the premium processing.
Why do you need new approval notice if the old one is valid?
Let them know how expensive the trip is - financially and time-wise. Tell them you’d rather make this trip and get the newer stamp so that you are a little relieved for next 3+ years. Put forth the scenarios where you’d have to travel on an urgent basis. Having this stamp will make it so much easier for the company and you. Now that you have laid down the reasons, explain how long regular processing takes along with an RFE. Compare that to a premium processing case along with an RFE. Multiple RFEs, if you like. Good luck and safe travels!
You getting back to work on time after your vacation is a business need. So premium is justified. tell him that
Once the current visa expires you won't be able to return back in case you need to travel due to a family emergency (say if someone got sick or something) That can be a problem for both you and the company. You may explain this to your manager.
Honest conversation!
