Conversion rates for contract-to-hire positions at Hulu?

Assuming it is mostly team/performance dependent - any guidance?

Don't take a contract job. (Not if what u want is a career) If freelancing is your goal, contract is fine.

Mind explaining your reasoning? Especially if the goal is FTE?

I have seen multiple contractors, some from Mexico some from US get converted. Being from US makes it much easier

So would call that a normal hiring practice? Extended trial run to see if you cut it as a FTE ... I know we do the same thing

Hulu huluswdev Jan 15, 2020

Yeah would consider it normal. Why waste time interviewing bunch of people when you know a contractor with experience at the company already who is good at their job

Depends on the org/position. Haven’t seen great conversions for roles where manpower is needed to scale up an existing function to meet increased short term demand (eg data science). Saw more success where the contract position was highly specialized.

I've seen 5 contractors/consultants throughout my time. 2 are still here, 2 got let go after their term (no renewal), 1 got converted after several years

Interesting - engineering or other roles?

Hulu codetwat Jan 19, 2020

Mostly engineering. Some analysts
