I'm trying to make a transition from an Ops role to being a Developer. My linked profile says all star. I've applied online for some positions in other companies and I see that although my LinkedIn profile does get a decent amount of views from recruiters(about 50%), it hardly ever gets converted to Inmail from them to talk about possible opportunities. Is me being in an Ops role a reason for this?
Did you go to a coding boot camp to make the career switch?
Yes. Recruiters and hiring managers are risk averse. If your profile, which job title is a big factor, doesn't line up to what they are expecting, recruiters will pass over. Would suggest looking within MS to see if a transition is possible to a Dev role. Otherwise you need devs from other places to vouch for you and take a risk on you. And what does All Star mean, I think it was for profile completedness, nothing about if it gets you to your goal.
It’s hard to make that transition into development unless you’re going through your network or connections. Companies need strong developers - with so many other LinkedIn profiles with relevant and hands on coding experience, they are mostly likely to go after those folks first.

Yes. Network for a transition like that is a way to go / switching internally first. The views can be for ops roles as well
