Ok so i graduated from a UC in 2017 with a 3.98 and research experience plus thesis from a reputable lab in which the profs also work in industry, with a good GRE i should have options for MS schools. i jumped straight to industry and recently got promoted (title change) does yoe and title trump having a MS? what benefits can I swing long term with an MS instead of yoe and titles. Im afraid to become overwhelmed with work and school and become unhappy. company will only reimburse tuition based on gpa. should i bite the bullet and do it? ps. full time MS not an option, have a mortage to pay.
No thanks
“Does yoe and title trump having a MS” -> in almost all situations yes
You shouldn’t. Better off doing a side hustle that expands your experience
Are you a US citizen, or do you need to win the green card lottery?
Good question, I’m a citizen
Do not bother, unless you just want to do research.
I got a master's and doctorate in my spare time while working. Had no influence on TC or career prospects, but I loved every minute I was there. Would do it again, no question.
How did you do a PhD part time?
Find a professor who's willing to work with you, it's very common in Europe.
Do you hate yourself and want a divorce? Go for a PHD too
Ms is worth if your undergrad is not from top universities. Otherwise it only means a lot of HW and money. No returns
Schools don’t matter.
