Tim Cook’s responses to Kara Swisher’s questions regarding Amazon’s HQ2 search, Facebook’s Cambridge Analytica fiasco, privacy and more were bluntly honest and a reflection of the core values that Apple holds dear.

What other companies in tech have similar core values to Apple and why do you think so?

Core values is a corporate jargon used to build a good narrative for a company. The only value that major companies religiously follow is profit.

A company’s culture starts at the top and propagates down. Tim understands this well.

Cook said that he didn’t believe in having a contest where everybody was doing all this work and there would be only one winner and everyone else would be losers. He believes in a world where for someone to win others don’t have to lose.

With regards to FB he said he wouldn’t have never got into the soup they are in. He also said that Apple could have made a lot of money by selling peoples personal info but chose not to do so because it goes against their core belief that privacy is a human right

Well, that is probably also why Apple holds a minority share of its markets. Not that you can’t turn a profit, but it is a different business model that doesn’t work with a majority of customers.
