Corporate surveillance

I know it’s possible but do IT people and managers freely search through company chat logs and emails and laptops or do they need a reason to? Will they notify you if they have read any of your stuff? Seems like this power would be easy to abuse in the hands of the wrong people.

    They really don't need any justification or reason. It's all company owned resources, so they're free to look at them anytime and you should always conduct yourself on a company computer as if your boss is looking over your shoulder. It's probably rare for them to look, but you never know.

    Yeah there are lots of logs and the ability to audit without much governance once you get the position/role. Just need the time and inclination. Don't ever badmouth your DBA...
