Counter Offer beats New Employer Offer

Blind community need your thoughts and wisdom Got an offer from a company with a role I'm interested in and accepted the offer. I told my current employer about it and now they immediately mentioned they will promote me in a week plus beat the new offer by 15% and gave me the flexibilty to move to Bay as I mentioned it was the reason I considered the offer. I'm lost...don't know what to do, 1. Shall I move on with new Employer as it is 2. Shall I re-negotiate with new Emplyer and ask for better numbers 3. Shall I take the offer at my current employer 4. Shall I negotiate more with my current employer #engineering #software #re-negotiation TC: 120K New TC: 160K + 25K sign on,Bay Counter TC: 185K + 20K bonus one time,LCOL if I opt to stay at current place

No, do not accept the counter offer, because that will leave you at risk of potential retaliation or at least discomfort. Move on to the new job with their offer as is, be happy and then later figure out your next move. Congrats!

Never take counter. In most cases it is a regret

Netgear lostping Jun 9, 2021

That also means they were intentionally underpaying you and only realized when competition offered more.

Take the new one. Your current employer could have already promoted you without that offer, but since you had no other option they did not. Now all of a sudden they don’t get you for cheap anymore and want to start treat you fair. Imagine you would have asked about the promotion without an offer what they would have said. Obviously your current employer will in the future also lowball you until they again are forced to match your worth. Fuck that! Go with the new employer.

If you take the counter you need to understand you revealed your hand that your looking to leave. Moving forward you maybe treated different

#2 - use the counter offer to negotiate the new offer

Really? I don't think the new company would even consider that since you are already planning to leave that organization and suddenly you say that they are paying more so I'd stay?!
