Anyone knows/ worked for or with Coupang? In Seattle or Mountain View? What is the culture like? Startup or traditional corp vibe? Do they pay well? How is it working for an Asian/ Korean company? Would you recommend?
Bad work hours I hear, due to cross globe communication
Only for principal and up, that you will need to connect with someone in Korea and it's not that bad. I usually have meetings with anyone in the Korea around 4-5pm Pst. I leave for home at 5pm and get in before 9am. My manager promotes work/life balance and let's us work from home when we really need to.
It's true that I work a little later because I conference with people in South Korea, but I start later as well. I feel the work/life balance is definitely something the company keeps in mind. Catered lunches everyday in Mountain View and AYCE Ice Cream, snacks and drinks is nice. Plus, movie Fridays and Ping pong tournaments. It definitely feels like a startup and it becoming more and more diverse as more people are hired.
If you fit our high bar, you will see that we are VERY competitive with our packages.
I just started a role at Coupang in Mountain View. Feels like a starter in terms of paid lunches, ping pong table, company offsites. We pay competitive packages and have been pulling a lot of people from FANG type companies. It's starting to become more diverse with each hire. Work/Life balance is a big deal. No one needs to be over-worked. I love it so far and love movie Fridays on the 1st of the month and all the v8,snacks and cereal you can eat.
good you like Coupang. I am thinking of considering their offer for Sr. Director. not great TC but let’s see
