  • Nope. It’s not really that lethal. The number of critical cases across the whole US is like 64. The rest (more that ~19k) is mild.

      Richmond BC has a population under 200k. Queens is north of 2 million. Queens has more chinese alone than every human alive in Richmond.

      You’re real stupid.

    • @Uber You're still missing the point that the Asian population isn't relevant once the virus exists in a regional population. It may determine the initial number of cases, but after that, the exponential growth of the virus takes over and the maximum number of patients at any given time (and in total) is almost entirely a question of what mitigation strategies are used (if any).

      patients = initial_patients * (2 ^ (days / doubling_time)) - patients_recovered

      Given that doubling time in the US has been about 3 days for the past 3 months, you can see that initial_patients quickly becomes irrelevant. And given that the Asian countries have had the situation under control for a month, we have received few new patients from them.

      The doubling_time is the most important variable here. We maximize it with the most aggressive possible quarantine strategies.

    NY has the most coronavirus deaths too, so it's clear it's a bigger problem in NY vs other places.
