I'm ready to tell my boss off at the risk of getting fired with "why did you hire me then?" Took a TPM role for a software company. The PM from another team handles much of the technical questions and the customer account manager drives all the communication to stakeholders. I either don't get copied on every communication, and the account manager is always creating the JIRAs, Meeting Requests etc. either before I get a chance or duplicating what I did after the fact. Boss gets after me as to why am I not doing these things. The account manager is the boss's protege who went from new grad hire to senior manager, so pointless to argue about this person's initiative of doing not just their work but mine... My role is truly redundant with others doing these tasks already. I have no clue why this position was even created. Is this worth arguing over or time to GTFO before a potential PIP? YOE 10+ TC 200k
Were you brought in to take over? If so have you been proactive in taking the responsibilities? Have you spoke to the protege regarding swim lanes and division of labor? Idk dude there are a lot of questions still left unanswered.
Talk to your peers about lines of responsibility. Get your account manager out of jira..lay down the law if you need to nothing gets added to your backlog unless its through you
This is the answer. Take him out for lunch, chum him up, let him know you want to own the JIRA ticket creation for "consistency's sake". Be prepared to handle any objections. Maybe start telling others too. You need to control the narrative that others are encroaching on your space.
Branch out to other job for another chance + better TC
Just take the opportunity to coast and leetcode at work. Then GTFO whilst laughing at them.
Dude, talk to the PM. He or she probably is just used to doing this stuff and would be happy to pawn it off onto you.
Take the initiative to find work to do. Think about how you can bring value to the company rather than just adhering strictly to the job description. No one likes a worker with the "not my problem/job" attitude.

I haven’t done shit today!
Why aren’t you talking with your peers about a transfer of responsibilities?
In a former company, Idid this and was met with blanks stares and silence all around. I found another company after. Less stress, less wtf moments.
Did this and it still isn't happening. I would rather attempt and fail than to sit idle and keep this continuing.
