https://www.npr.org/2020/01/23/798874112/trump-administration-targets-birth-tourism-with-new-visa-rule Thoughts? Any impact to H1B folks having babies in US?
No impact to people on H1 as those are work visas.
Only impacts tourist visa and I support it
Good
Great! No more free US passports for kids of rich Chinese tourists.
I get the rule. No big issue there. But I call BS on the justification. Even if H1B is not affected, they are using it in their numbers of yearly births, in order to make the tourism rule look like a bigger issue. First BS, considering the babies who live their whole lives as American... "birth tourism poses risks to national security." The department contends that birth tourism has created an industry "rife with criminal activity." Second BS is including non-immigrant visa in their count of births, which includes worker visa who live here for years, not just tourist visas. 'The State Department did not specifically say how many babies are born in the U.S. due to birth tourism, saying that it's a challenge to derive a precise number. But the department estimates that "thousands of children" are born in the U.S. each year to people who are either visiting or conducting business on nonimmigrant visas.'
