Cracking coding interviews

I noticed here on blind that many people clear all the FANG , Uber, Microsoft , other top companies’ interviews and negotiate with all of them to bump their salaries. On the other hand I have been trying hard to clear even one of them. Last couple of months I interviewed at all these top companies and lost all of them. What do you guy do to crack all these interviews ? Leetcode ? Any tips will be helpful. I am still trying and will keep trying ...

How much exp do you have and how many times have you tried with these companies?

VMware PatGel OP Jun 15, 2018

Once . Rejected after onsite few of them and got rejected after phone screen for the remaining.

I think most people who succeed only manage to do so after a few attempts. It's very rare to get it the first try, let alone multiple offers. So it's a good thing you started, now you're on your way to success

Leetcode. Cracking the System Design Interview. Practice behavioral questions.

Even getting in VMWare is difficult . How did you make into VMWare?

VMware PatGel OP Jun 15, 2018

Maybe I was prepared well at that time. All those skills I don’t use at work have become rusty and preparing for interviews together with completing tasks at work and managing family is getting very difficult.

Cisco cluster Jun 15, 2018

How long have you been working in VMWare?

Intuit poirot Jun 15, 2018

I hear you! The cool off period in these companies is one year😒 which is so demotivating!

Microsoft Wglass Jun 15, 2018

If you have a preference for a company, I highly recommend you do the Explore track at Leetcode for that company. Facebook's Explore track is right on -- the coding questions I was asked onsite were in the track.

What is explore track?

I think means the premium

In same boat. Solved 200 leetcode. Done system design. Rocked Uber interview. People say it would be reject though since they don’t take more than 2-3 days to reply. Now at rock bottom😕😕. all hard work done in last 3 months = 0

Intuit poirot Jun 15, 2018

Fingers crossed 🤞 good luck

Amazon took one week to reach back with an offer. All the loops I’ve been through helped me. So != 0

Cisco cluster Jun 15, 2018

I think almost everybody around are in same boat. Who make it, simply leave. Who won’t make it, sadly stay. Competition is really high these days and getting more and more brutal

Keep practicing. For onsites: Dress well, avoid body odor (deodorant and shower help) Think out loud, more important than solving the problem at 1st is sharing your thought process. Try to engage in conversation. They will be your team mates. They have to accept you. Do whiteboard not only leetcode. Do design on whiteboard. Have your experiences aligned with company leadership principles. Have very clear what you admire from them and why you want to join.

Be good. Be personable. Be interesting.

Microsoft JayZee Jun 15, 2018

This. Onsites are just not about leetcoding. If it were, they’d ask you to just do them remotely on hackerrank

Tinder meowimacat Jun 17, 2018

Tbh more important is leetcoding. Personable might be weighted higher at your place but generally not at FAANG, as long as you are not an asshole it's fine
