Considering a cruise offer (SWE). 1. What time horizon do people actually think the PSUs will be paid out over? 2. I hear rumors of large amounts of level inflation. Are your IC4s actually similar to Google/FB T5/E5? Is your staff actually close to Google T6?
What level is this for? IC4?
Yep.
Go for it
Nobody at the company knows the timeline of PSU vesting. My take is that it will take 5-6 years (if it happens at all). Remember, this is an unsolved problem which is very hard. Level was inflated earlier since there were no clear guidelines around it, but then management came up with a good mapping. IC4 here would be similar to T5/E5 in most cases (there are E5 from FB already at those levels) I am interested to know why would you leave Google for Cruise? After seeing things here, I would never do that.
What's PSU exactly? How does it work?
It’s called Performance Stock Unit. You get X amount of PSU, which is tied to company reaching certain milestones (say Y). Every time company meets the next milestone, you get X/Y amount vested. Every quarter, we do test drives and we evaluate if we have hit the currently tracked milestone, based on the requirements for that milestone
1) 4+ years. I'd expect around 4. Maybe 5-6 but really, no one knows. 2) Some, but I'm pretty sure 4 years is senior (mostly ic3, maybe ic4), just like most other companies.
Re (2) ic4 is equivalent to T5. Some employees have grandfathered staff titles at ic4. Actual staff (ic5) is pretty rare and not inflated, most ic5s I work with are outstanding.
I would love to have a referral- can anyone help?
How long did it take from onsite to verbal decision to offer letter?
Like a couple days? The DocuSign can be generated whenever you want to sign it
Sorry I meant the time for you to hear back - I had an on-site a week ago so just curious about timeframe for the decision. Did you just get a call after a few days?
You’ve gotta share your offer and yoe/current google level for people on blind to help out better..
4 YoE. Their initial offer is 225k base, $290k RSU (/4 years), $290k PSU (???). This is less money than I'm making now even with optimistic view on the PSU.
Wtf? How much are you making now?
