Considering a cruise offer (SWE).

1. What time horizon do people actually think the PSUs will be paid out over?

2. I hear rumors of large amounts of level inflation. Are your IC4s actually similar to Google/FB T5/E5? Is your staff actually close to Google T6?

    Nobody at the company knows the timeline of PSU vesting. My take is that it will take 5-6 years (if it happens at all). Remember, this is an unsolved problem which is very hard.

    Level was inflated earlier since there were no clear guidelines around it, but then management came up with a good mapping. IC4 here would be similar to T5/E5 in most cases (there are E5 from FB already at those levels)

    I am interested to know why would you leave Google for Cruise? After seeing things here, I would never do that.

      I have minimal concerns except that PSU timing is unknown.

      I also don't work directly on AV code.

      Our track record for PSU hits is pretty good. 786 must have joined very recently while we’re going through an expected milestone pause while work on platform fundamentals.

      That seems like a high offer for cruise ic4, most are not getting base that high. Must have done well in interviews!

      PSU are hard to value, it sounds like some recruiters overpromised ~2 years which is obviously unrealistic, but the company line is ~4 years. There are many rumors that the PSU structure will change for all employees before the end of this year anyway, since many people aren't happy about it. I wouldn't worry too much about your net pay being less than the equivalent of it taking 4 years.

    Re (2) ic4 is equivalent to T5. Some employees have grandfathered staff titles at ic4. Actual staff (ic5) is pretty rare and not inflated, most ic5s I work with are outstanding.

    1) 4+ years. I'd expect around 4. Maybe 5-6 but really, no one knows.
    2) Some, but I'm pretty sure 4 years is senior (mostly ic3, maybe ic4), just like most other companies.
