Cruise offer evaluation
Recently, I was extended an offer from Cruise in vehicle integration. MS mechanical+ 7 YOE; 122k TC Detroit area L4 $160k 30% bonus $15k relocation (taxable) $15k sign on 100k/4yrs Any thoughts on offer/ pushing for L5? Not worth the small bump. Standard of living is high in Bay Area. This is not enough

Not worth IMO, you're already asking about WLB plus 160K doesn't go far in the bay. Probably looking at least at 200k
His TC would be 250K yr 1… he’ll save substantially more money living in the Bay
Not enough to move to bay area. Do you have a family? Can pull it off if you are single and can work out cheap housing.

I think it is worth the move. The cash comp is >200k and the RSU has growth potential. Bay Area is expensive but for a reason. If you don not like Cruise, you have many other companies that are aggressively looking for ppl. This is not a bad start IMO.

For mechanical I would stay in the D unless 1) you really like the Bay or want to switch to software or something else in the future 2) they offer you L5 with more money
Doubt op would get L5, plus the mechanical careers are far more lucrative out here
