For example, if ether is the fuel to ethereum apps, and speculators (just holding the currency for profit) are over-inflating the price, how can people create successful disruptive applications if the expense of using it is so expensive that it deters users and, consequently, developers?
Unlike the tech companies of 99, there wasn't a barrier to use as formidable as the one created by speculators.
On the other hand, these ICOs making devs rich might be enough to offset this cost for them to innovate. Still feel like there is a challenge on the user front though.
