I just accepted an offer as a part of their TechStart program (rebrand of Tech Development Program). I'm jumping into the NH location for context. I'm going to be getting a heavy culture shock going from NYC -> NH, but I'm making that choice for COL reasons. What's the culture in the offices there and LM as a whole? TC : 70k, 8% max out on 401k match and all that.
I’m guessing you’re around grade level 10/11? Def some opportunity for growth for the next few years, but more opportunities in Boston since that’s the HQ. Culture is laid back and people are generally friendly. Huge focus on tech as legacy systems are outdated.
Yeah I think I’ll be coming in at 11 or something along those lines. Trying to make an impact in the org and get top tc to be frank. I’ll be in NH for a while for training and then try to jump down to Boston
If you’re looking for top TC, you won’t get it at Liberty. You have to start mostly in NH although there are a limited number of TechStart roles in Boston. Small number of teams doing modern work, mostly in digital, everything else is a dinosaur, will be hard for you to grow quickly. You can make at least 10-15k more off the bat at other larger tech companies in Boston with better mentorship like TripAdvisor, CarGurus or HubSpot (new grad comp at ~110k, highest I’ve seen in Boston).
Yeah I'm in NH, I'm tryna work on a good team and make the jump to Boston so I can jump somewhere else > 3yrs. Need that TC eventually, don't mind living in a LCOL and studying up for a bit.
Plenty of LCOL options in greater Boston area, from Waltham to Watertown to Burlington down the 495 corridor
I used to work at LM. A few teams are pretty toxic if you're a female working with older females. Pretty much, they treat you like you're a dumb kid out of high school if you're a tech starter. I legit had a scrum master who lectured me for coming in hungover from a team outing the night before... I don't even drink alcohol. I've also seen the same scrum master who wanted all the engineers to write shit we don't like about our technologist and then bring him in to tell him one by one reasons why we don't like him. Needless to say, I shut that down because that's straight up bullying. I did meet a bunch of cool and knowledgeable people, mainly because I forced talks and made sfw funny jokes to make work life bearable. Newer code bases are clean, old code bases suck. NH there isn't much of a culture. It's pretty dead. But if you can get into the Boston branch, that'd be dope. These are my personal experiences. I was also in the Boston branch!
Just left liberty! I think it depends on your team. Lots of growth opportunity. Take what you can get & leave for higher salary.

Try reaching folks from another post? Looks like not many active people from this company.
Yeah I actually reached out directly to the people in those threads and got nothing so I decided to make this post
