Opinion on overall culture at Better.com and does it really live up to the hype as seen on Glassdoor? #tech
Is it better at better? Should better be best.com then?
lol
I bet you are the first person to ever make this joke.
Knew someone who worked here. Hated it and quit. Apparently their Head of product had no Product experience before joining but was simply chief of staff to CEO. And the previous CTO had a bad rep. Not sure how things are now this was a year or 2 out. They have directors in their 20s so that part always freaked me out
Pretty much covers it
True. There are a bunch of people with no expericnee running the company.
Yeah he’s a real POS
Yup
Avoid
Reason?
If you’re an SWE then it’s fine but anything else avoid. CEO is a real piece of work and his trash culture flows downstream. Primarily culture of fear in non-SWE roles. It permeates into the broader corporate culture too. Just look at all the Forbes articles.
Alright alright alright we all know you got the offer, now accept it and share some first-hand experience with us -_-
CEO and ex-chief product manager messed up the culture . That being said It’s still a great pre-ipo company . Caution : the company barely invests in technology . Most of the business workflow is still heavily manual and the leadership have no technology vision . Be prepared to work on some ancient legacy shit.
I’d disagree with this statement. How can something be ancient when it was only built in the last 6 years.
Agree on strategy and lack of tech vision. CEO only wants quick, immediate wins by throwing tons of disposable labor at the problem. No deep product or tech vision to scale the company. Disagree on legacy stack though.
Glassdoor reviews are pretty much all fake and they delete any bad ones. Tried writing a bad review 3+ times and they flagged it for “community guidelines”.
They overhired. Irresponsible leadership. Just went through a round of layoffs. They can't keep up with growth given the boom was in refinance and low interest rates.
Can I DM you?
Which org were the layoffs? They're still hiring alot
Avoid. Leadership has no idea how to lead... irresponsible quite honestly. 3m ago they were hiring left right and center and this week laying off people. Really poor planning... they cannot execute anything and change technical direction very often. If you are looking for a career, this is NOT the place to be.
Can I dm you?

Enraged that kids prefer KPop to Bollywood. Installed cams in their rooms.
Hype? Seems like normal start up reviews… what am I missing? I declined to interview cause I wasn’t interested in the domain
