I am thinking of joining Zillow in Seattle. Could anyone elaborate on general culture - I am reading a lot of conflicting reports. Is the PTO policy really unlimited and are employees encouraged to use it? Is work from home/telecommuting every so often allowed at all or not really? Trying to get a sense of the WLB and general culture and attitudes at the company before moving forward. Much appreciated.
PTO is unlimited and depending on the team may depend on how “unlimited “ it really is. If you get your work done and no one is cleaning up your mess while your gone then it’s fine to take time off. wfh/ telecommuting, same thing depend on the team. From my experience they really like to have you in office. They load your orca card with $500/ month for you to do it. The culture is ok, there are a lot of white males walking around but the company does try and present as inclusive.
Thanks for the response!
Yo what’s wrong with white males.
is unlimited ever really unlimited
Point Amazon. You're right but I have worked at a company before with unlimited and never felt qualms for taking it when I needed. I've heard mixed reviews on this with Zillow.
prolly bc it varies by team. few believe in their house flipping venture so get in and get out, could be a good beachhead to seattle
