After over a decade at MS in Redmond, i’m considering opportunties at Google Cloud, but here in Seattle/Kirkland. i would very much like to understand the culture at GCP (or Google overall) especially in comparison to MS corp. i’m in Business Development. i know GCP is very aggressive now, they’ve hired several MS people. But i’m just wondering how life is like at Google, especially since i’m only able to work in Kirkland/Seattle. Would appreciate learning about internal politics, career growth, promotions, dynamics / limitations of Kirkland/Seattle based Bay Area based, etc. thanks in advance!
If you're a SWE and young then GCP is the place to be right now in terms of growth potential.
I'm starting out with GCP tomorrow and will be working out of the SLU office. The intake and interview process although a little lengthy was well organized and very professional. My recruiter went above and beyond as I had 2 trips to the HC before I received an offer. I was told that there are more openings in the bay area as opposed to Seattle so I feel fortunate I found a team here. So far so good, and the TC increase was far and above my Microsoft L63 comp. I'd advise going through the process, what do you have to lose besides crappy rewards?
Far above? What level at Google?
Looks like the analytical roles at Seattle GCP are gone. Is that due to the reorg/layoff?
For swe, pretty chill
