Wanted to know hows the work/life balance there and hows the culture in general there
I have only been here for six months but my experience has been largely positive. Work life balance is fairly good but make sure you establish boundaries for yourself. Culture is open, people are friendly and most managers don’t have a huge ego so they are approachable. There is some tedium to processes right now, so sometimes it can be hard to move things along but I do feel that voices are listened to. There’s some uncertainty as we are waiting to see how Nikesh pans out - where his focus is and what his priorities are so that’s still kind of up in the air
Thanks for the insight. That was really helpful.. Work apart do they have any soccer team or something? I have heard many bay area companies have teams for soccer / cricket..
Culture sucks - really depends on team - the company is ancient in it's beliefs and ways e.g no work from home policy - lack of team building initiatives - so called hands on managers who are really not hands on and don't know how to get out of the way
No wfh 😟😟
That's not true. We have people work from home all the time, it's just not "official", as in there's nothing to fill out or submit, you just let your manager know, but I think that's pretty typical...
Great example of culture and mindset - all hackathons till date had finalists as firewall teams though the level of innovation was appauling - newer ideas were either not well understood or not encouraged due to lack of understanding - hopefully this changes with Nikesh
There is no diversity in the team. Automation team here at HQ only has chinese/vietnamese people. There are no team building events or lunches. Forget about soccer! It’s frowned upon if you are seen doing anything else other thank work!
Damn is this common across all teams? How aggressive is the deadline ?
No. We have team buildings and Lunches. We often have larger company events. There were group wide bbqs all week.
Which team are you in? I'd like to join
Also they say we have to stick a year with the same team and can move around within company at ease depending on your interests.. How true/easy is that?
Wow - I don’t live near HQ but I visit often. I am either onsite or WFH and I know a lot of folks who work in HQ that also WFH at least 1-day a week. When they are in the office they also get to leave early or take extended lunch breaks to get home to take care of pets/family. Seems YMMV depending on what group you are in so the negative things I am reading are definitely not the company culture.
Which team are you in?
Pre-Sales
Guys anyone ?
