I am a female 9-year Amazonian (L6 SDE) who joined Amazon as an entry-level engineer and grew to L6. Since I have always been at Amazon, I haven't seen significant raises in compensation. I currently make a total compensation of around $320k per year thanks to the recent company-wide revision of base salaries.. I would like to understand how this compensation compares to L6 SDEs who join Amazon from other companies. How much does Amazon offer to L6 SDE hires ? Additionally, I have heard from my male peers that I am being heavily underpaid for my level. I have been considering jumping ships for a while now but I would like to get a good picture of what to expect given the current market situation. #software #amazon #salary #engineering

I just got an offer for ~550k. 9 yoe
What level ?
I am really very surprised with all your TCs , just wanted to know if you guys work like machines without any mistakes.. I got some offer for 250k in walmart and I have 16 yoe I am so happy ..
You in Seattle?
Yes,I have always been in Seattle.
Damn… that’s how they treat employees that put up with all of their shit… all while giving people with half the experience similar compensation, knowing most of them won’t even last a year. What a joke
What’s your old vs new TCT after this year’s review?
I received an L6 SDE offer last month for Seattle. They told me the top of band for that level is $480,600 (without requesting an exception which requires VP approval). I received an offer with said exception which was 540k the first two years, then dropped down to 480k in years 3+4 (assuming no stock appreciation). Demographic: white male, 10yoe
For this year, no luck for existing L6s. Starting next year, if you are HV2 or higher, expect in the 450k range L6 SDM TC 320K Next year TC as 2022 PCS: 378K
I got a remote offer of more than $320k TC at L5. You deserve a lot more for nearly double the YoE and L6. I recommend getting many offers (at least 2) and negotiating hard with Amazon if they want to keep you and you want to stay.
You can make more than that as E5 at Meta(senior) If youve been an SDE for a while and can shoot for E6, it'll crush that comp
How long as SDE3? For that YOE, you’re looking @500-750K TC for Staff roles outside @ this market
I have been SDE3 for about 2 years now.
Great. Unless you really like what you’re doing and happy with what you’re getting paid (doesn’t look like that’s the case), I’d suggest testing the market. It’s sad that we have to prove our market worth but that’s the game unfortunately
