Share experiences with HR or manager noticing when you go into job hunting mode on LinkedIn and other job sites? I'm going to change my status to "open to opportunities" but I'm concerned about my current managers noting this and it causing problems for me.
My manager heard about it. Did nothing. Company downsized soon after.
Both outcomes are positive..!
How would your current manager know whether you're open to opportunities in LinkedIn? I thought that was only for recruiters per what LI told me
My 2 ex managers tried to block from moving 🤷♀️ Not always positive, shit happens lol
I'll never understand why do managers try to screw employees. What's the point of keeping an already demotivated employee ? Have you asked them face to face why they tried to block you ?
I completely agree. Actually funny story I didn't have to ask the first one bc s/he hired me to the position and I was performing too well that I became too valuable to lose (theory of others not mine)..Since then I'm playing more carefully 😅
Company that were planning to layoff will lay you off regardless of you looking or not. Doesn't matter.
Will employer lay you off for this? Because they already know that I am looking to switch.
Not for this. Sorry fixed my post.
LinkedIn says the status will not be viewed by your own company, seems not that accurate
Totally agree with this. This is SWE after all. Ppl jump ships all the time. Some time in the future those managers would also be looking to jump ships. Hypocrites.
To be honest...always be open to opportunities. Keep yourself prepped. Never know what opens up in other companies or back fires in current company.
My director viewed my LinkedIn profile 2 days after I changed my status to be open to opportunities, and proceeded to hit me with a huge bonus and performance incentive to make me stay
