I interviewed for an EM role at reddit a few months ago - did not enjoy it. The recruiter told me all EMs at reddit are also ICs and expected to lead by example as a contributing SWE and participate in on-call, etc. The interview loop was basically just a difficult SWE loop with leetcode & system design and one session tacked on to discuss team lead responsibilities. Sounded like they expect you to be hands on coding while also doing personnel mgmt and sitting in a million meetings. When I asked about decision making autonomy for things like giving my team good raises or rewards (for example) they basically said this is outside the control of EMs and mostly gets decided top down. So as EM you are just glorified tech lead with terrible WLB from the extra load of meetings and personnel issues stacked on top of coding.
