I'm a new grad joining Google and I'm currently choosing my location. I really want to try Google MTV because I've heard the office is great and frankly, I kind of just want to see how Silicon Valley really is. I feel like it would also be nice if I want to join a startup in a few years. Alternatively, I like the idea of Seattle because it seems like a fun city that has a good balance of all things, and also slightly lower COL so maybe my money will go farther.
Is MTV/Silicon Valley really worth the experience? How nice is Google HQ? Is all that worth it over Seattle? What's a better place to start my career?
I'm thinking I could do MTV for a few years and decide to either go to Seattle or join some startup. But I'd really appreciate any advice on this. I will also say that I know the compensation packages vary based on location but here's what my research indicates:
Google MTV: 142k base + 15%
Google Seattle: 127k base + 15%
