I'm currently an undergrad starting out at MBB as a Business Analyst in a couple of months. I have SDE internship experience at an investment bank and internship experience at Amazon as an Applied Scientist.
I was wondering whether it's possible to transition to Google as a Product Manager(or APM) after spending a couple of years in consulting? It would also be great if I could get an idea of the approximate compensation offered at Google India for Product?
I know that I'll be at an disadvantage as opposed to folks with SDE experience under the belt but just wanted to know about the possibility of making it to an interview without an MBA/MS. I'll be applying in/from India, if that detail helps with the answer.
Thanks!

I moved to Product management after 5yrs at MBB (Principal/Associate Partner level), so some words of wisdom from an experienced old fool: if you really want to do product management, start there in first place!
It's not as easy to transition into PM from consulting (at least in FANG)...much easier to get into bizops. Also, tech people (at least in Silicon Valley) don't know much about MBB - how selective they are / what you bring to the table etc.

      Yes, post MBA.
I did leverage my MBA to switch careers! Went from tech services to strategy consulting.
Prior tech experience, my focus on high tech / growth strategy during my MBB time and some luck (knowing right folks to refer me to get past the "recruiter hurdle") helped sidestep bizops.

If your undergrad is in cs/ee you're good for an interview invite most likely.

I made a similar switch, the biggest challenge I faced was in cracking in the tech rounds, at a senior (or even fairly senior levels) at FAANG a good grasp of system design is expected which is difficult to gain over the course of a consulting job

I studied EE, worked in a big 4 consulting for 2 years, got my mba, switched to PM.
Most hiring managers in Product don't even know what consulting is. I usually have to explain them during the interview.

With that being said, I think consulting is the best place to start a career. I would recommend having the experience for 3 years and then move to something else.
