Inflation is out of control.
Sales are already slowing down
Consumer confidence is low
Rates are being hiked up rapidly
Companies aren’t growing as much or as fast
I’ve never seen such amped up demand for finance roles for the past two years (relatively anyways).
That said, in the purest definition of a recession it can be totally Benign and nowhere close to the 2008 recession (which is the only one most people on blind will recall if any).
FWIW there have been a total of 48 recessions in the US (since it became independent) and the latest one was in 2020 but it was so short lived that most didn’t even notice it.
In summary - definite on the recession. Not sure on the “everything is going to shit” part (that one totally depends on a multitude of factors).
Lastly, on the super optimistic side, if we did get a benign recession the period that will follow it will be the best opportunity that GenZ will get to kick start their financial success
