No sun, weather sucks here in Seattle and seems like your family income will go down at least for sometime
Agreed on the family income. What about brand equity. I am a strong PM with good engineering skills - would avoiding the seattle market backfire in future? Any other reason apart from the weather to not go to Seattle?
Stay in DC and interview at Google, FB, Msft or Amazon. All have offices somewhat in the area
Your quality of life in DC will probably be better at ~$170k than $200k+ in Seattle. Plus the tech industry is just starting to heat up in the DC area! Amazon now has two Arlington offices, Facebook and Apple are expanding aggressively, and the start up scene continues to mature. Plus you can still buy a single family home for less than $1M in the metro area. I'm not sure that's feasible in the Seattle area. If you're looking to put down roots, DC is on the rise, whereas Seattle is already a mature tech scene.
DC (I live in Seattle myself). I’ve been in Seattle for about 8 years and Seattle is not a good city if you are not into hiking or skiing. Not many things to do and not very diversed either. City is growing and infrastructure is far behind which has ended up with long commute, lack of public transportation, expensive childcare (if you have kids or planning to have one, we are paying 3k for a 9 months old). Not to mentioned long rainy days and lack of sunshine..
Bright horizon does charge in 2.8k if your child is less than two years old
Ok, guess that is why they quoted us low. Ours is a 3 year old
the best advise I could ever give to you: don't come to Seattle
Seattle ! More opportunities here, better outdoor options, mild weather - no snow, no heavy rain;schools are good in UW is amazing
