During a particularly polarising election campaign in the state of Uttar Pradesh in 2017, India’s prime minister, Narendra Modi, waded into the fray to stir things up even further. From a public podium, he accused the state government – which was led by an opposition party – of pandering to the Muslim community by spending more on Muslim graveyards (kabristans) than on Hindu cremation grounds (shamshans). With his customary braying sneer, in which every taunt and barb rises to a high note mid-sentence before it falls away in a menacing echo, he stirred up the crowd. “If a kabristan is built in a village, a shamshan should also be constructed there,” he said. Shamshan! Shamshan!” the mesmerised, adoring crowd echoed back. Perhaps he is happy now that the haunting image of the flames rising from the mass funerals in India’s cremation grounds is making the front page of international newspapers. Communal dipping in the holy river to get rid is sins or whatever. Was okay when population was small. Now, a blind belief that is killing the rivers and ecosystem along with the industrial effluents and other destructive acts of man. Before bhakts say I am non hindu/ atheist, I am a Hindu and respect a river as God, but can't blindly follow belief when it visibly causing destruction, when devoid of all basic logic.
It’s called Kumbh Mela - it is the largest gathering of Hindus on the holy river Ganges to show respect to the gods and wash away their sins. The government let it happen and this could be one of the super spreaders that made things worse.
Narendra Modi and his party only care about the Hindus in India. And now they can even see he only cares about his rich friends and high castes. This is a disgrace to all Indians living there and he needs to be gone.
I don’t think he cares about Hindus either. He just cares about winning elections and keeping power and being worshipped.
Stop playing your political agenda here. If you really want to help in this time of crisis then post some links where people can help. People of India are intelligent enough to decide about their political future and get rid of Modi if they want to.

Modi endorsed, and possibly implemented, genocide of Muslims in Gujarat 20 years ago. Not surprised to see that he hasn’t changed his tune. Seems Indian right wingers hate Muslims even more than American right wingers
