I have offer from Microsoft L60 111k + 130k stocks + 30k signon + 10 to 20 % bonus in Dallas, TX. I also have another offer from Workday SE 3 180k + 150k stock + 18k bonus in bay area. I am not sure which route to take. I am leaning towards Microsoft just because of the company name and Dallas location. Can anyone help me in making a decision?

  • Cost of living doesn't even make it comparable. MS is better.

Engineering wise, it's too broad. Some orgs in MS, I would say work any where else but them. Others, I would prefer over top FAANG in a heartbeat.

As a whole by name, tech.

    Microsoft.

Atl is live and well and dallas is supposed to open in 1 to 2 years. People remote right now there.
As far as rif and layoffs are concerned, imo managers will just nominate least valuable member and hr will do the rest. Now, whether you are seen as weakest since you are not in Redmond is a different issue but I doubt that will be problem.
From what I can tell, msft is growing outside Redmond since it's cheaper for them to hire talent due to lower competition outside. My team is distributed across north America anyhow but manager and skip are in Redmond. Devs are spread

Honestly Workday has great WLB balance that you could take the WD offer and leetcode/interview with companies in the bay and get a much higher TC. So I’d look at the wd offer as a means to an end kinda situation. (Obviously only if you wanted to come to the Bay Area)

Workday definitely has better work culture and energy than Microsoft but Yeah this one is tricky bec Your TC will be so much better in Dallas . But if i were you would have taken Workday assuming you are young and not even mid career(as in 10+ years exp) .
