Did anyone else notice dropping of hiring standards in last 1 year,
The new hires are so weak technically,
Do what ever Manager says them to do,
Managers prefers them and pips good arguing developors.
Not judgemental on backgorund but big share of L5s coming from tier-3 colleges and companies.
What happened to Amazon in last 2 years specifically in India.
L6, YOE: 7.5
TC: 78

Tier 3 college argument is shit for an L5 developer. Seems like you have a god complex!

Relax dude just venting because my Seattle team is full of idiot managers from IITs. All they do is play politics and block others. The developers are top notch though. CS from shit tier still better than civil mech chem from iit.

You don't need superstar engineers to work on glorified CRUD applications

I guess Amazon figured out, that we don't need super smart engineers, because they aren't going to get that kind of work. All you need to do is talk to 10 different teams and pull data.

If it's that bad as you hear, what makes you think managers aren't pipped? They are also reporting to another manager on top. So from a pip perspective, they are not at a benefit

5-6 years to SDE 3 is considered fast? Google's median promotion times for L3 (university grad level) to L4 + L4 to L5 (SDE 3 equivalent) is less than 5 years (yes, this includes industry hires who are under levelled, but anecdotally, this is the average rate I observed for college hires as well).

I've heard Facebook is even faster. I'm not starting a dick measuring competition, I'm genuinely curious regarding what's considered "quick growth".

Do you understand how judging works? You passed a judgemental remark based on their background. By prefixing that remark with "not judging", do you think it won't count?
