I have a resume with 10 years of operations experience incorporating HR functions into my roles including one solid year of HR Management exp at a factory. I took a Recruiter/HR Specialist role in August at a great scaling company. I really loved the company and people I work for. By all accounts, everyone loves me and I’m a rockstar even winning Manager of the Quarter. They have been giving me more duties and I am now basically Head of HR without the compensation. I do EVERYTHING including rolling out a quarterly performance management system recently. It’s a weird culture. All these 20 year olds get promoted fast in other departments but the exec team doesn’t care about the admin/HR team at all. I’ve singlehandedly grown their company from 110 to 151 people since August with no assistance. I make 80k (Los Angeles). How severely underpaid am I and how do I approach negotiations with CFO that says no to everything? #hr

If you are actually that good, why not find a better paying job?

If you think you deserve more, you need to go forth and make that happen. Find a new job that pays you what you think you deserve.

Gather up all of your accomplishments and see if you can start initiating pay raise conversations. If you're up for a review or promotion cycle soon you could also wait until then and prepare in the meantime. Get as much evidence of your performance as you can, including those team growth numbers.

Unfortunately people who give raises and promote aren't always the ones who have the most visibility into your workstream, it can pretty common for some teams to be ignored like that. If your manager and/or CFO really are going to say "NO" to everything, you'll probably just have to start looking for a new job. You can try and make them counter offer before your way out if you want to stay, but sounds like they wouldn't do that. Sometimes managers will tell you everything you want to hear, but if nothing is in writing (especially with $$$ involved) then it's all BS

As for your current pay, idk how much your role makes in LA but just quickly checking similar companies on glassdoor or asking around will give you a good idea. My personal exp is if you're in LA with that much exp 100k is the minimum no matter what your job is
