MSFT has many position advertised with Data/Applied/Data & Applied scientist. Most positions prefer MS or PhD graduates. I want to know how many round happen in on-site. What level of leetcode questions is asked. Are PhD candidates asked to present their work. It would be useful if someone share their interview experience recently explaining total time taken from applying to getting offer. Does PhD candidates succeed without hard LC questions. Such positions are both in Seattle as well as Bay Area. Thanks for input guys!
If you are interested in ML, make sure that the hiring team actually works with ML. I know a few DAS who write SQL queries & work on data ingestion\ processing all day.
Thanks for heads up. ML ones are just a few. How to prepare for interview..
Prep will be broad, that's the tough part. Prep LeetCode to med. Prep all the basics of the stuff they test. Literally go through introductory courses / textbooks for those. If you're a PhD my advice is publish less papers and spend more time preparing. That was my mistake, and it cost me.
@2$_ Sorry to hear that bro. What is cooling off period for such positions? 6 months or more. You can apply with more preparation next time..
I've gotten leetcode easy to med, but they also test all sorts of shit ranging from probability, statistics, ML, DL, computer vision and NLP. And they didn't give a shit about my research experience, no presentations :(
Was this for a data scientist or applied scientist position? Were you asked a lot of data structures and oop?
