I’m currently a data analyst (24, 3 YOE, 70k TC + RSU in PHL) in an ad agency and am pretty happy with my position/company. I hope to translate my skills towards any industry (sql, python, r, data viz software). Within my company, Managers/Sr Managers are pushed into a sales/pitching role and based on prev experience, sales is not my area of choice. My education BG is in marketing and information management with a concentration on finance/econ. Any recommendations for what opportunities to look for down the line, or additonal skills would give me a stronger competitive edge for senior roles?
Pm?
What do they need at Microsoft if you wanna move from data roles to PM roles?
I think really depends on the team and the org but I assume you gotta start helping out a PM. Like start doing some of the work and maybe try to lead discussions and projects. There definitely problems that goes unsolved just bc there is no one to drive them. Just do this on the side. Then over the time maybe try to increase your work load from DA to PM. And once start doing impact as an PM you can look for a position within or outside of your team
TC?
Lol, talk to _john_doe above as I'm guessing he has a lead. Other idea is to work Wall Street or Madison Ave for a few years to get your TC and high-speed experience up while socking away as much money as possible.
