I have an onsite interview with Twitter for Data Science (Technical Leadership) position. Currently have director level offers from smaller private companies. I have couple questions. Any information/suggestions will be very appreciated: * Should I target Principal as equivalent IC / Technical Leadership role at Twitter? Looking at levels.fyi, it seems that Principal level at Twitter is way above the "Principal" level at many other companies. * What should I expect for onsite interview? What kind of questions they ask at onsite for this level?
No one is hired at that level unless you have industry wide recognition. That being said I’d stay away from twitter in general. It’s a political fuck fest of management. It’s a giant politically correct circle jerk where people are afraid to tell their coworkers that they need to do the right kind of work instead of delivering crap no one needs. Hell even the Original Hipster is fucking off to Africa because he doesn’t give a shit.
What? Could you elaborate please.
About which point
Don't get these comments, people like to complain about their company but I have to ask why other commenters are still working at Twitter (if they are) if that's true. Generally the DS org on the consumer side has never been great, especially since Twitter is a great product for DS work. That can be a advantage or disadvantage depending on your level, for junior candidates it may not be the best but more senior hires can make their own projects/team and will have a lot of flexibility. Also, DS on the ads side is a lot more aligned and analytical in my experiences. Right about the principal level, there are no principal DS at Twitter today, only Sr. Staff (ML SWE, technically).
I barely hear anything about Twitter DS. I would think they’d need a ton of people to do product analytics and ab testing similar to fb ds who is constantly hiring. Anyone at twitter have a review?
Run far away. Data science at Twitter is hyper toxic and super fucked up.
Can you elaborate ?
How come?
