Data Scientist / engineers in NY - how much are you making?

I know there are a bunch of threads about compensation but I can’t find one for just data scientists and data engineers in NY. Doesn’t matter if you are at Facebook or Spotify or Google or Reuters or any other company... want to get an idea of how much you guys are making in NYC. List compensation and years working / degree. I’m debating a move from Dallas to NYC and want to see if it’s worth it. I’ll start. Data engineer for 2 years, finishing up a masters, currently making $130k.

Go on Fishbowl and ask. They have better salary info.

You’ll take the initial hit to standard of living without an increase of about 70k. Are you taking a risk and trying out a 2-3 year plan to try to leverage a higher salary back in Dallas? How much more can you squeeze out of Dallas when you finish your masters?

My husbands family lives in NY. We were debating whether to move back to be closer to them but I’m afraid the cost will be too much.

Yeah people don’t typically move closer to family for it to be a temporary thing. It will make it harder to move away if you do go. If this is the reason, I would ONLY go if I could afford to buy a property prior to moving. You don’t want to get stuck only being able to rent without the option of moving elsewhere if the market is too expensive.
