Any advice from current, former, or managers of FB data scientists? This role sounds like a “Data Scientist, Analytics” role. It’s in “growth”, not sure what that means. I’m a data scientist on a rapid prototyping team, I deal with machine learning mostly, less “deep dive analysis” insights stuff. 2 YOE. Working at Facebook has been a goal for a long time. Thanks.
My friend was in this role but she later quit. If it has “Analytics” appended to the data scientist title (as opposed to core), then you basically run a lot of sql commands all day and report analytics to cross functional partners. As far as I know, no ml. Not sure if it’s different for Growth, but probably the same. I interviewed but never got past onsite, so take my advice w a grain of salt but definitely master your statistical theory (like everything you learn in your intro level stats classes in college + AB testing), SQL (practice a lot), and some leetcode
