What is the interview process for Data science position at FAANG companies?
Thank you.. I was wondering do they have any sort of Data structure and algorithm test over there for Data science position
Depends. I'm at FAANG. If you're interviewing for Amazon or Facebook, they will never ask you data structures and algo questions, those are for SDE roles. But they'll ask some data manipulation questions using Pandas, and Numpy. But at Microsoft, you can expect Algo questions. Same with Google, and Apple. But no matter which company you interview for, everyone will grind you on SQL, and ML/Stats questions. You should know how every ML algo works internally.
Even Google doesn’t do Algo questions now. DS is now a much diluted role demanding advanced analytics skillset with stats 101/201
Okay, I only interviewed at Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Microsoft and never at Google or Netflix, but I had read some interview experiences. So it seems they are not asking Algo too. That's actually good because seriously DS never uses linked list, heaps, red black trees, etc.
You need sql. And its better to have big data/cloud/Azure/Aws/data pipeline experiences.
Yes, a lot of data scientists do the work of advanced analytics, and end to end pipeline of summarizing data, analyzing it, creating ml models and then if necessary creating dashboards
You apply and hope to get an interview. If they like you, you get an offer. It's pretty simple really.
