Data science course from SUNY buffalo vs Analytics course from University of Texas Dallas.

Looking for some advice for a family member on which is a better choice for a master's program!

Neither.

Well for an average student who isn't eligible for the ivy leagues but is looking to do a masters, options reduce!

I know mate. There are better options for the average student(which includes myself)

Leetcode University

Do regular comp science. This data science is spooky. Atleast know 3-4 people struggling to get a job in data science. They cannot code like regular comp sci and nobody hires data scientist fresh out of college ( obvious with some exception)

To really get into data science, PhD is the the proper way forward

They are for entirely different things. Data Science is more engineering, analytics is more business. UB is a much better school (I think they had the best engineering program in NY when I was a student, but I’m biased obviously) with large CS/engineering and management school programs; Dallas is a private, religious, liberal arts college not known for its engineering programs. My vote is for UB.

Are you referring to southern Methodist university? I have to disagree about the Dallas part. UTD is public and part of UT system. And it’s not liberal arts.

Oh sorry, I missed that it was a UT school, I thought they were talking about this school: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Dallas UTD is probably a much better school, though I don’t know of anyone in major tech hubs that went there; however I’ve come across many other UB grads independent of my social network. The only UT alums I’ve come across have gone to UTA, and that’s been pretty rare.
