I have got an offer from Facebook at e4 level (iOS engineer) and from Apple (mid-senior position as well). Compensation wise both are almost on the same level. - In FB, I will get the opportunity to focus more on App-development and consumer-facing products which I have wanted to do for some time now - In Apple, I have met the team and manager and I feel really good about the work on the team What other factors should I be considering? Any help is appreciated!
Care to share the offers?
Both are ~300K and the difference between them is ~10K
Congrats man. That's incredible for 2 yoe
Who you work with more important then what you work on for your success.
Factor in commute time. Also factor in free food at fb but prob not at apple
I'd be concerned about possible regulatory action against Facebook causing their stock to drop. Given all their scandals and PR issues, I'd say Apple
How many YOE do you have?
2yrs. This would be my 2nd job out of college
Wow those are some nice offers for 1yoe. You are in a real good position (:
Tim Apple is the way to go
If its same comp. why would you pick fb over any other major tech with better culture and wlb such as apple, ms, google.
You said Apple has better culture and wlb than Facebook. I don’t agree. Apple has terrible WLB if you didn’t know. On par with Facebook. Regarding culture, IMO Facebook culture is better. People are very open about what they are working on. At apple, they have a cult like culture of insane secrecy. I’ve read stories where team members literally disappear for months to work on a special “project” alone. They can’t even tell their teammates about it. Not even the manager may have details about it. If you work at apple, expect to not be able to tell your friends what you work on. In many cases, you can’t even mention the name of the org.
Lol... plenty of reasons, much better refreshers than ms, generally rewards high performers more, faster career growth, engineering culture preferences, more software focused infra/scale challenged than Apple
FB offer breakup?
How did you prepare for the interviews?
Leetcode! And also at my current job I got to work closely with my architect so my design sense has become strong. I think they liked that
Make a poll. Also apple
You are saying pick apple?
